So tonight I’m working on the blood and gore effects for when the player gets hit, and the monsters too.
What I have is a few sprites representing blood, and some representing ‘gore’ (chunks of ‘stuff’). I have them burst from an enemy (and the player) when a successful hit (modified attack score vs defence score + random (1-50) dice roll) is performed.
This blood and gore will randomly disperse from the hit character and then slowly fade out over time (so we don’t end up with 100’s of instances of blood and gore everywhere!).
I think it looks okay, right? It looks better in motion though.
This is usually the kind of thing I would do last, along with the art pass but I’ve had a long day at work and fancied doing something fun 🙂
